Staff Fishing Report Vol.12 2023.10.17 Sugawa FP (t-Cup)

on Oct 18 2023
Hello everyone. This is Atom from t-Route!
I participated in the 4th t-Cup, so I'd like to report on it!
6:30We arrived at Sugawara Fishing Park and checked in.
As some of you may already know, the t-Cup has preliminary rounds in which competitors are divided into the "Rabbit Group (beginners and intermediates)" and the "Lion Group (those with podium experience)" so that competitors with similar skill levels can compete against each other, and the same numbered competitors from each group act as judges for each other.
And my partner is Director Yamaguchi from Office Eucalyptus!
As a eucalyptus fan, this was a perfect combination for me.

The fish were released before the first match, and the rabbit group's match began!
I started with a 1.8g gold bait, but the fish were slow to catch anything...
The director gave me some advice: "Reel it in more slowly, and if you set the hook and it doesn't get caught, let it fall and bring the depth back down." When I put it into practice, the number of bites increased dramatically!
Won 8-5

No release in the second match
The spoons and crankbaits were not so good, but there were still some released fish left, so I caught two with GJ's Gold Arc.
Won 2-0
*The director said, "I didn't think we'd be able to catch a minnow in these conditions," so it's possible that it was just a fluke.

There was no release in the third match either, so I was completely lost...
I caught one fish with a 1.6g silver trigger and finished.
Lost 1-4

The fourth match will have a release
As the weather gets warmer, the fish are floating more and the released fish are moving around more actively.
I caught 9 fish in the following order: Kokoro 1.8g Orekin → Banna 1.4g Maspani Release (Glow) → Banna 1.4g Muddy Pearl
Won 9-2

After lunch, the fifth round is a t-Route showdown with the store manager!
We promised to play a serious game without any bias, and now the match begins...
But there are hardly any part-time jobs!

On the other hand, the pair on either side of us were making a lot of drag noises (^^;
The assistant manager's words, "It's kind of quiet here (^^;)" pierce Nomi's heart.

We battled for 20 minutes, imitating the lures our neighbors were using to catch fish, the store manager receiving advice from the assistant store manager (who has experience on the t-Cup podium), and I receiving advice from the director.

After a fierce battle, the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
It seems that people around here were catching a lot of ricuses.

In the sixth match, we didn't catch a single fish and lost 0-1.
Advance to the finals with 3 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw, and a goal difference of +8!

In the finals, I caught two fish with GJ's Ore-Daction, one with Ussa S (color unknown), and one more, but I've forgotten what I used to catch them...
Four or five people, including me, caught four fish, which put us in fifth place.

So far I have reported on my fight, but from here on I would like to introduce some of the patterns that the Lion team members repeatedly used while I was refereeing!

①Decamitz
It is effective in parts of the inlet where the current is strong. Cast as close to the opposite bank as possible and retrieve if there is no bite within 2-3 meters of the bank.

② Daisy 0.8g
On the day, we were unable to catch all the released fish, and the fish continued to be caught slowly. We caught a lot of fish using a Daisy 0.8g, which is designed to hunt the slow-moving released fish.

③Drift Spin
Cast as close to the opposite bank as possible and reel it up from the bottom.

④ Heart 0.7g
Not limited to 0.7g weights, but also large silhouettes and light spoons in flashy colors can be used to slowly trace the bottom.
After the tournament there will be an awards ceremony and rock-paper-scissors tournament!
Congratulations to everyone on the podium!!

The rock-paper-scissors tournament will have lots of prizes, including fishing gear, vegetables, sweets, and more!
Even I, who am terrible at rock-paper-scissors, was able to get a prize.

At the end, we had a private lesson with the director and Ito Yudai!
Thank you, Director Yamaguchi and Yudai Ito.
Thank you for reading to the end.

While serving as a referee, I was able to watch professional and professional-level anglers fishing up close, and I also received advice from more advanced anglers during the matches, which was a very educational experience.
The t-Cup is a fun event to enjoy both during the match and while refereeing, so please come and join us.

That's all from Atom!
