Staff Fishing Report Vol.15 2023.11.7 Ashigara Casting Ashigara

on Nov 07 2023

Good evening!
I'm the assistant manager again today!

Fishing day has arrived again this week😍
Today's destination is our favoriteAshigara Casting AreaMr. Miss.✨

I've been wanting to go there ever since it opened, but on the day I wanted to go I saw on Instagram that it was full.
We were going with a large group so we couldn't make a reservation, and we had to go to other fishing spots, so we couldn't go.
I've come this far until today.

I would stomp my feet in frustration every time I saw everyone's pictures of them catching a big fish 🥲🥲🥲

So today, when I called at 7am, they said, "Yes, we have availability!"
It's here!!! So I'll head there right away after my kids go to school.
However, it started raining heavily on the way.
Heavy rain that causes the wipers to start working at maximum speed
And there was a huge black cloud ahead...

I wondered if it was over, but I decided to trust the weather forecast and head out anyway!
They said we'd arrive around 10:30, but we arrived a little early, so we had breakfast at Denny's while waiting for the rain to stop.

Meanwhile the weather has improved!
I saw a beautiful rainbow in the parking lot of Denny's✨

I'm glad I've lived my life as a sunny girl 😁

Well, when I arrived, I first bought a 6-hour fishing ticket.
Ashigara-san is close by, so I can enjoy fishing at my own pace.

When I received my fishing ticket, I was given a Lapi-chan rainy day sticker, with the caption "We give these to people who come on rainy days."
"Lapi-chan...? Who is that?" I asked, and a cute dog came out from under my feet!
This mascot dog is so well behaved that even though we've been here over 20 times, we never even noticed it.
It was so cute, it's a must-see for dog lovers 💕

Check out the species of fish currently available next to the reception desk.
The manager's goal for today was to "catch a tamagotchi or odorock", and my goal was to "catch a kintoki yamame trout".

I was full of motivation and hoping to achieve my goal, so I prepared for fishing and arrived at my fishing spot around 10:30.
Today we were the second and third to enter from the back of the valley.
I had heard that there were big names in this outlet, so I decided to check it out.

While I was slowly getting ready, the manager, excited to see Ashigara again after a long time, said, "I'm going to hunt for some active fish with a release spoon!!!" and immediately cast a daisy (I've forgotten the color).
However, it seems there is no luck.
Thinking this one was probably a little more mellow, I tried throwing in Licuse's Kira Olive, which is said to be a good second choice.
This is the rumored spoon that caused a stir at the last t-Cup when one person caught so many fish that it caused quite a stir.
But I couldn't catch anything either 🥲
That's harsh...
It seemed like the people around me weren't catching many fish, and with the strong headwind, it didn't look like I'd be able to cast a spoon lighter than a Likuze.
After discussing it together, we quickly moved on to cranks.

I loveKibipani Cherry BonbonThrow.
Today, instead of going by my mood like usual, I was determined to thoroughly analyze and improve, so I will carefully examine how many times the board moves after hitting the water.
(The faster you move it, the lower it will go, changing the range at which you can pull the lure.)
I tried various things, but it seems best to lower the rod after 3 turns and reel it in.
You're guaranteed to get one hit per cast, and one fish every two casts.
I felt great after catching four fish at once🤭

However, the other day, my fishing mentor, Mr. Hara, told me, "Once you've caught a few fish, you know the lure is going to catch fish, so there's no need to keep casting. You won't get better unless you check how other lures are reacting at that time." It was like a giant light bulb went off in my head 👀
Normally I would keep casting until there were no more bites, even if the hook was licked or the line was damaged, but this time I held back and lent it to the store manager, who had yet to catch a fish.
I told the store manager, "It's a 3-guri," and he caught a fish on the second cast.

Next, I thought about a similar type of crank... and it was my original color.Deep Crappie from Uguisu MochiI tried throwing it.
We had a great catch of Japanese bush warblers at Lake Higashiyama, but today we had no luck 😞
There are very few hits, so I don't feel like there's any potential.
I wonder if the range is a little too deep?Same color wahI changed it to:
That's right, I'm a true Uguisu fan.

Then the wow nightingale exploded!!!
I couldn't believe how much I caught

"Wow!!!" The store manager also throws sakuramochi next to him, and he also catches a lot of fish!

Wow, that's amazing! With this, becoming the top angler is no longer just a dream!
In the end, the manager and I changed lures and tackles to see the difference in the reactions and enjoyed a wow party.
An hour after I started fishing, I had caught 23 fish, so I started to get greedy and wondered, ``Maybe I can aim for 100?''
By the way, Sakuramochi's unrivaled time ended about 20 minutes earlier than him.
This was a surprise as I thought that the green glow of the bush warbler was stronger and people would get tired of it more quickly.
The water was murky, so perhaps the warbler was able to pull the fish from afar.
They also started eating the hooks from the belly more often, so at the end, even though the range had dropped, the fish may have been pulling them in from below by the color.

So, I sensed a change in the range and decided to change the lure.
(During this time, the store manager had changed the needles on the bush warbler three times.)

I thought I'd try going back to Kibipani at a slightly lower range, and this time I tried End Pumpkin, and I caught a lot of fish.
I was very happy when the manager praised me saying, "Your assistant manager is better at crankbait"😍
Yes, today was a crank day, which was irresistible for me as a crank lover.✨

While this was going on, I felt a heavy hit!
It's a big one!!!
It's been a while!!

I caught a surprising big one, 43cm long!
It's amazing how you can have encounters like this while just fishing in Ashigara!!
By the way, I once caught a big fish at Wau's Uguisu Mochi, but it escaped with a brilliant jump 😭
When I said, "It was the size of a dolphin," the manager replied, "It was the size of a whale shark," so you can imagine how big it was (it was quite a large portion) 💡

I wondered if it would work if the range was lower, so I tried a metal vibe that I had wanted to try, but the reaction was lackluster.
I didn't catch many fish with metal vibes throughout the day, but only the b-spark responded well.Mikkabi mandarin orangesSo two of them,Orange FoxI caught four fish.
Both were 2.0g.

In that case, I'll search the shelves with a spoon.Hunt GrandeI use it, but the blast makes it impossible to fish 😨
It weighs 1.3g...
Casting is difficult, and there's a headwind, so the line gets blown by the wind and the lure comes towards me even though I haven't reeled it in yet💦
I tried my best by putting the tip in the water, but it just wouldn't fly, so it was too difficult and I gave up...
After that, when the wind stoppedVanna's Reaction KBorRikuzeI caught one or two fish using lures such as Silhowa, but I still couldn't figure out the hitting pattern throughout the day.

The best thing was the crank!
Among themPico Eaglewas good.
The store manager was using the original color prototype and catching one fish per cast.
I try to compete with spinach, but although I get hits, I can't quite catch them.
The store managerAG HookThey changed it to this, so I tried using that, but I still only caught about two fish, so the results were disappointing considering the number of bites.
(This one was the only one that was hit with a light, heavy hit, so maybe it was a color issue, a range issue, or something that prevented it from being a critical hit.)

The wow was good, so I could aim a little below the surface.Briburi MinnoworChibi Pani SRI also tried this, but it wasn't very good.
I loveUpside-down NyoroI didn't catch anything at all.35 small Mikkabi mandarinsI only managed to catch two fish.

On the other hand, once I caught a big fish, the manager's desire to catch a big one exploded.
Speaking of catching a big fish,Take out Route21 and Babel's 0.7g to 1.1g, WZ, BabeconI'll throw it down until it's too late.
The color was reacting well and I even caught a big one, but the drag was too loose and it got away💦
(This one was the size of a small boat (according to the person in question))
I also introduce Minty because it's a color that the same person came up with, but I still can't catch any big fish.
I also use spoons of the same color, but it doesn't work.
In that case, trying to attack the bottom with a crank or spoon doesn't work either.
As a last resort!Nejin GlueI also cast it, but for some reason, instead of big ones, I keep catching the smallest ones🤣
So unfortunately for the manager, he didn't become a big shot lol
Good luck! And nice fight!

As for me, I start to feel sluggish after 1 o'clock and my concentration and energy levels drop drastically.
At times like these, if you throw a lure without thinking, it will wobble upside down and not hit the bottom, and you won't catch anything.
Where did the 100 dreams go...?
As expected, my excitement level dropped too much, so I switched back to the Wow Uguisu Mochi and caught another fish 😁
However, this time it didn't last as long as the first time, and I stopped after about three fish.
But these three fish were a blessing during tough times.

After that, I make some work calls and eat some instant noodles, and before I know it, it's 3 o'clock.
After all,Ussa,MochaWe caught a few fish each using kibipani and other lures and that was it.
The manager handed me the Wow Uguisu Mochi for the third time, saying, "This will finish off the fish," so that was it.
Today was probably the day she shone the brightest!
Thank you, Uguisu...
In the end, we caught 47 fish in the five hours from 10:30 to 15:30, which was a decent result.

When I told the receptionist that I had caught a big fish, I was given a Lapi-chan sticker that said "Congratulations on catching a big fish!"✨
I'm so happy to receive two at once 🥰
Unfortunately, it didn't contain any salmon roe, but I'm sure it would still be delicious.

It was a strong wind today, but it was a very satisfying fishing trip!
This year, the manager is participating in the Trucking Championship and aiming for the t-Cup podium, so fishing has tended to be focused on the tournament.
It's been a while since I've been able to go on my usual whimsical fishing trip, aiming for a big one or catching 100 fish, and it was super fun as well🎶
This is an area with endless ways to enjoy trout fishing, but I haven't seen the bottom yet, so I'll keep going back this season.

This is a very long post, but thank you for reading.
See you again in the next fishing trip report!
